If you're a busy mom trying to keep your
0:02
home comfortable without spending all
0:04
day cleaning, this video is for you.
0:06
These are my must-have cleaning hacks
0:08
that make everyday messes feel a little
0:10
bit easier and a lot less overwhelming.
0:13
Welcome to Motherhood and Homemaking,
0:15
where faith meets everyday motherhood
0:17
and home is our favorite place to be. As
0:19
I clean my home today, I invite you to
0:22
come alongside with me for some
0:24
uplifting and some cleaning motivations
0:26
and tips. I hope that this video finds
0:28
you well. And if you are finding it to
0:30
be helpful at any point in this video, I
0:32
hope that you would give it a thumbs up.
0:34
And if you are new here, go ahead and
0:36
subscribe to join the family. I'm always
0:38
sharing motherhood motivation and
0:40
homemaking inspiration to make our lives
0:42
a little bit easier, enjoyable, and
0:45
encourage us to just slow down so that
0:47
we can free up some time in our busy
0:49
schedules and make time for what truly
0:51
matters, spending time with our loved
0:53
ones, and doing things that we love. So,
0:56
let's get into all of the cleaning
0:58
hacks. The 10inut reset is my number one
1:02
hack because it's so easy and it is just
1:05
so fulfilling. Set a timer for just 10
1:08
minutes and focus on the main area
1:10
causing you stress. It can change within
1:12
the day. Some days it might be your
1:14
kitchen counter. Some days it might be
1:16
your bathroom countertop. Some days it
1:19
might be your bedroom or the laundry
1:21
piling up. Pick up the toys, wipe off
1:23
the counters, fluff the couch pillows,
1:25
whatever it is for you, and just spend
1:27
10 minutes. Set a timer because knowing
1:29
where you are going to end, it just
1:32
makes all the difference. Cleaning
1:34
indefinitely, feeling like you just
1:35
don't know where the mess ends. I know
1:38
how overwhelming that can be, but just
1:40
set a 10-minute timer and say, "I'm
1:42
going to spend this 10 minutes to just
1:43
be intentional on doing something
1:46
productive today and eliminating just
1:49
one area of stress in my life today."
1:51
It's amazing how much peace you can
1:53
create in such a short amount of time.
1:55
So, I highly encourage you to try it.
1:57
And when you do this once in the morning
1:59
and then once again in the evening, your
2:01
home is going to stay a bit more
2:03
manageable without hours of effort
2:05
because you're staying on top of the
2:07
messes. Next is keeping cleaning
2:09
supplies on every floor or maybe even in
2:12
every bathroom. Make cleaning convenient
2:15
for yourself. Having a small kit
2:17
upstairs and then another one downstairs
2:20
will save you so much time. a
2:22
multi-purpose cleaner, a microfiber
2:25
cloth, some wipes, a small broom, maybe
2:28
maybe even like a small sponge or
2:30
Swiffer mop to make things easier for
2:32
you. When a mess happens, you can clean
2:34
it before it even spreads without
2:36
running around gathering supplies and
2:38
feeling overwhelmed before you even
2:40
begin cleaning. Busy moms don't have
2:42
time for marathon cleaning sessions.
2:44
That is why we adopt the clean as you go
2:47
habit. Wipe the shower walls after every
2:51
shower or after every bath. Rinse the
2:53
dishes right away after eating and even
2:56
put them in the dishwasher if your
2:58
dishwasher is empty. Throw laundry in
3:00
the washer while the kids are playing
3:02
for 5 minutes. Tiny little tasks prevent
3:06
big messes and helps us to stay on top
3:08
of the mess. Number four is one basket
3:11
per room. I love this so much. And I
3:15
didn't realize just how much I loved it
3:16
until we relocated to our vacation home.
3:20
And I didn't have any baskets in these
3:22
rooms. All of my baskets were still up
3:24
north. And you guys, by the way, my
3:26
daughter has been spilling juice all
3:29
over our sofa. So, I'm trying to tackle
3:31
these stains. And you guys can notice
3:33
that the armrest I still have to do a
3:36
little bit more deep cleaning with. I
3:38
have to saturate that little stain on
3:40
the armrest and then just let it sit a
3:42
little bit longer. And I didn't realize
3:44
this until after I finished wiping the
3:46
whole couch down. So, I went back and
3:48
saturated it completely. Let that sit
3:51
for about 10 minutes and came back and
3:53
the stain was gone. It was quite super
3:56
easy. I don't know what I was thinking
3:57
getting this light colored sofa. I've
3:59
always wanted a light colored sofa, but
4:02
I always knew I had little kids and it
4:03
wasn't possible. But I said, you know
4:04
what? I'm going to try it here at this
4:07
home because we just were investing in
4:09
like a small chair. Nothing too crazy or
4:12
too expensive. So, I wouldn't have been
4:13
like super upset if it got like a little
4:16
bit ruined and I wanted to just go with
4:19
something that I knew would make me, you
4:21
know, feel bright and happy. And so, I
4:24
do love this color sofa, but it does
4:25
take for a little bit more cleaning. So,
4:27
if you want to simplify cleaning in your
4:30
home, go for things that's easier to
4:32
clean down, like leather sofas or
4:34
microfiber, things like that. But back
4:37
into the cleaning hacks. I just figured
4:38
I'd throw that little cleaning hack in
4:40
just since we're trying to simplify
4:42
cleaning here. Back to the one basket
4:44
per room. Getting off topic here. So,
4:46
keep a basket in the living room, one in
4:48
the hallway, one in the kids' room
4:49
throughout the day. Anywhere where you
4:51
have hight traffic areas. Maybe in the
4:53
hallway like right when you walk inside
4:55
the door where your shoes pile up, coats
4:58
or bags and things you took out of the
5:00
car can pile up. Wherever your hight
5:02
traffic areas are, just place a basket
5:04
there throughout the day. Toss anything
5:07
that's out of place into those baskets
5:08
so that at the end of the day or during
5:11
your reset, you can just grab the basket
5:12
and put everything away all at once
5:14
without running back and forth, back and
5:16
forth, up and down the stairs and back
5:18
and forth towards that hight traffic
5:19
area. It also keeps things looking a
5:21
little bit more tidy and it keeps
5:23
clutter from taking over. So, recently I
5:25
went ahead and ordered me some more
5:27
baskets. Next is to use multi-purpose
5:29
products. Simplify your routine by using
5:31
products that clean multiple areas. A
5:33
good allpurpose bread, glass cleaner,
5:35
and a disinfectant can handle most of
5:38
your home. Less clutter under the sink
5:40
and fewer decisions to make. My laundry
5:43
hack for you guys is the laundry rule of
5:44
one. One load a day. wash and dry and
5:48
fold and put away. Not two or five, just
5:52
one load every single day because this
5:54
is going to keep laundry from becoming a
5:56
mountain that takes over your weekend
5:58
and your mind. Number seven is to clean
6:01
while the kids are occupied. Use natural
6:04
pockets of time. When your toddler is in
6:05
the high chair eating a snack, wipe down
6:07
the counters. When your baby is playing
6:09
with toys on the floor, pick up the
6:10
living room. This way, you don't need
6:12
long stretches of time when you use
6:14
those little moments. Just find little
6:16
pockets of time where you naturally just
6:18
have a little bit of time available.
6:20
When my daughter is in her high chair
6:22
eating, that's definitely one of my
6:23
favorite times to get some work done
6:25
inside of the kitchen. If I just notice
6:27
that the kids are playing in their
6:28
bedroom together quietly, and I will go
6:30
inside of the living room and pick up
6:32
some things in there. It's just natural
6:34
little pockets of time. Teach kids
6:36
simple habits as well. Even little ones
6:38
can learn. So, your 5-year-old can put
6:40
toys in a basket and your toddlers can
6:42
help put laundry in the hamper. These
6:44
simple routines not only teach
6:46
responsibility, they also take a little
6:48
pressure off of you and they make for a
6:51
good cleaner later on down the line.
6:53
Number nine is to keep a donation box
6:56
handy because clutter makes cleaning
6:58
much harder. So keep a box in the closet
7:00
or hallway. Whenever you come across an
7:02
item that you no longer need, just drop
7:04
it inside of the donation box and by the
7:06
end of the month, you'll be surprised
7:07
just how much easier it is to tidy your
7:10
home. And then last, of course, is to
7:12
give yourself some grace because mom
7:14
life is full and some days the house is
7:17
going to show it. But that's okay. Your
7:18
home doesn't have to be perfect. These
7:20
hacks are here to help you create peace
7:22
and not pressure. So do what you can and
7:24
let go of the rest. If these tips
7:26
encourage you or made homemaking feel a
7:29
little bit lighter, give this video a
7:30
thumbs up and make sure to subscribe for

7:36
