Hey friends, welcome to Motherhood and
0:02
Homemaking, where faith meets everyday
0:04
motherhood and home is our favorite
0:06
place to be. Today, as I prepare a
0:09
little bit of a breakfast snack for my
0:12
family, I want to share with you guys
0:14
five mindful homemaking habits that have
0:18
changed my life. I used to rush through
0:21
everything, meal time, cleaning, even
0:24
bedtime stories. And it felt like the
0:26
days were just passing me by while I was
0:28
just struggling to keep up until one day
0:32
it finally hit me. And I just realized
0:34
like I could not continue to do this. I
0:37
started to see where it was not only
0:39
affecting me, but also affecting my
0:42
children and even my spouse. It's one
0:44
thing when the way that I go about my
0:46
life and my daily habits are affecting
0:48
me, I feel like it's something that I
0:51
can overcome, but when it comes to my
0:53
children and it spills over into my
0:55
marriage, that is when I know something
0:59
has to change because they mean so much
1:02
to me. I did realize that some of my
1:06
rushing and some of my chaos was
1:09
spilling over into my home. And as the
1:11
homemaker and the mother of the home, my
1:14
job is to make sure that this is a
1:16
resting place, that it is a peaceful
1:18
place. I want my home to be a home where
1:20
we actually want to be more than
1:23
anything else. So I decided to slow down
1:26
and be more intentional and be more
1:29
mindful and it has been absolutely
1:32
transformative and that is why I want to
1:34
share with you guys today. So, my first
1:37
habit that I'm going to be sharing with
1:38
you guys today is protect your mornings.
1:41
I used to wake up and feel like I was
1:43
just throwing myself right into the
1:45
race. I would wake up and already my
1:47
children would be needing me. There will
1:49
already be a list of demands. Sometimes
1:52
the house would still be messy from the
1:53
night before and it would just start the
1:56
day off so overwhelming. So sometimes
1:58
now what I try to do is just wake up
2:01
before my children and even if it's just
2:03
10 minutes that is still more than
2:07
nothing, right? So sometimes I would
2:09
just sit there with a cup of coffee or a
2:10
cup of tea and just look out the window.
2:13
I want to be very intentional with this
2:15
time and quieting that first, you know,
2:18
early morning wake and just enjoying my
2:21
tea and just sit with my thoughts and be
2:23
mindful of how I'm feeling in that
2:26
moment. and it really does make a
2:28
difference in the rest of my day. So, I
2:30
encourage you if you can do that to just
2:32
carve out those quiet few moments, even
2:35
if it means hiding off inside of the
2:37
corner of your bedroom or sitting next
2:40
to the closet in prayer just for a
2:42
couple of minutes if you can just wake
2:44
up before the kids if you have little
2:46
ones like me. Number two is to be
2:48
present with one thing at a time because
2:50
I used to multitask everything. dinner
2:53
while texting and dishes while watching
2:57
television, folding while watching
3:00
YouTube, which I do love a good clean
3:02
with me while I'm cleaning up my home.
3:04
But in any areas of your life that you
3:06
think maybe you can practice just doing
3:08
one thing at a time just cooking or just
3:12
cleaning is how I try to either do
3:15
something very intentional or mindful
3:17
like praying in the morning while I'm
3:19
cooking and just playing with my kids
3:22
while putting my phone away so that they
3:24
have my full undivided attention. These
3:27
are ways that I'm just being fully
3:28
present in each task. The third one is
3:32
to filter out the noise. And this is
3:34
hard when you have children. So, I'm not
3:36
talking about that that beautiful sound
3:38
of our children playing, but our minds
3:41
are noisy, especially when we're
3:42
constantly consuming. I used to, like I
3:45
said, have the TV on while YouTube was
3:48
playing, notifications on my phone,
3:50
scrolling Facebook, and the baby crying
3:52
all at once. And I would just wonder why
3:55
my head was hurting and why I was so
3:57
exhausted. So now I filter what comes
4:00
into our home. I choose soft music or
4:02
gospel music or silence. If my children
4:05
want to play, they just play. No TV in
4:08
the background. This habit brings so
4:10
much peace to my mental health and just
4:11
creates an overall calmer atmosphere for
4:14
my kids. Number four, check in with your
4:17
body. For a long time, you guys, I
4:20
ignored my body and I was working out
4:22
and everything, but I do deal with
4:26
headaches and exhaustion and sometimes I
4:29
would just feel on edge and I would
4:30
never just take a moment to try and ask
4:32
myself like what can I change within my
4:35
health regimen that could make this a
4:37
little bit better. So, try to pay
4:38
attention to like those little things
4:40
that your body is trying to tell you.
4:42
For me, it took me having to take out
4:45
caffeine out of my diet for a long time,
4:47
getting to sleep a little bit earlier,
4:49
having some herbal tea, checking in on
4:52
my vitamin intakes. All of these things
4:56
are ways that you can take care of
4:58
yourself so that you can be a better you
5:00
for yourself, but also for your children
5:02
and for your spouse as well. And number
5:06
five is inviting God into the ordinary.
5:09
And this is everything. I started
5:11
inviting God into the ordinary to meet
5:14
me right where I am. Not just at church,
5:16
not just during Bible time, but during
5:18
diaper changes, dishes, tantrums, every
5:22
little thing. Faith just isn't separate
5:24
from homemaking for me because it is
5:27
where I get my homemaking from. Slowing
5:30
down didn't fix everything, but it
5:31
definitely brought peace where there was
5:33
a lot of pressure and chaos and gave me
5:35
more room to breathe, room to be, and
5:37
room to live the life that I was
5:39
originally rushing through. So, if this
5:41
video gave you peace today, I would love
5:43
for you to let me know down below in the
5:45
comments. And if you are new here, my
5:47
name is Heaven and I would love for you
5:48
to subscribe for more slow living,
5:51
mindful, faithfilled homemaking,
5:53
motherhood, encouragement, cleaning
5:55
videos, days in the life, and home
5:57
organization. Thank you guys so much for
5:59

6:01
helped you and I will see you guys in
6:03
the next video.
