You can do all things through Christ who
0:02
strengthens you. You have to live like
0:05
no one else in order to live like no one
0:07
else. It's not about if you're going to
0:10
do it, it's about how you're going to do
0:12
it. Those are the three things that stay
0:14
at the forefront of my mind and maybe
0:16
even my husband's too when we were
0:17
planning this out financially. People
0:19
out there who be like, "Girl, just do
0:21
it. You only live once. Life is short."
0:23
That's not me. Absolutely not. I have
0:24
kids. We have to think about them. If
0:26
you have a goal, you want to move to
0:28
Florida, you want to become a snowbird,
0:30
you want to get a second place or just
0:31
move completely out of state and it
0:34
seems scary for any reasons or finance
0:37
is just you're trying to make it make
0:38
sense, let me help you make it make
0:40
sense, but in a way that's not going to
0:43
be harmful for you or put you into debt.
0:45
I know I don't make any money off of
0:47
this. I would love to help you. Hello,
0:50
Disney lovers and welcome from Florida.
0:54
We have finally made it. We set a goal
0:56
and we made it here. So today we're
0:58
going to talk a little about just how we
0:59
did that. But I'm going to share with
1:00
you guys. This is day two. We arrived
1:03
yesterday morning here in the sunny
1:05
state of Florida, Disney World
1:07
surrounding area. So I want to share
1:08
with you guys some of the things that we
1:10
did to get here. It's been a really long
1:13
process even though it hasn't been. So I
1:17
don't know. We're going to share all of
1:18
that with you guys tonight. So I decided
1:20
to just sit here on the floor with you
1:22
guys because we just don't really have
1:24
furniture yet. We got her yesterday.
1:26
We're still getting things set up. We
1:27
just literally have like air mattresses
1:30
in the rooms. This is the kids room that
1:32
I'm going to be, you know, filming this
1:33
video in today because this has like a
1:36
beautiful, beautiful sunny sky in front
1:38
of me. So, this is how we are going to
1:41
be doing it. So, today I want to talk
1:44
mostly about some budgeting and how to
1:47
get here. Um, in case maybe this is
1:49
something that you want to do. So, if
1:51
you have any type of like big dream
1:54
goal, when I first started this channel,
1:56
I remember one of the things that I was
1:58
telling you guys is like it would be
2:00
such a dream for us to move to Florida.
2:03
I would love to move to Florida, but I
2:04
was also saying like even better, it
2:07
would be really great to have a second
2:09
place in Florida and become snowbirds
2:11
where you travel to the sunny states or
2:13
down south during the winter months and
2:16
then you go up north during the summer
2:19
months. So that is currently what we're
2:22
going to be doing for a little while.
2:24
And so in the beginning, like I said, it
2:26
was just a dream. It was just a goal,
2:28
something that I knew I wanted for us
2:30
and for the kids. Like one day, I was
2:33
thinking about it. Then I sat down and I
2:34
prayed about it. And it was just the
2:36
thought of like my kids growing up and
2:41
us spending majority of our lives, not
2:44
just majority of the day or the year,
2:46
but majority of our lives indoors. If we
2:50
cuz we stay in a state where
2:54
it is cold more than it's like seven
2:58
months out of the year it's cold. But
2:59
the point is during the time that it's
3:02
cold, we spend a lot of times indoors
3:05
and we rarely get out at all because
3:07
where we stay, there's not a lot to do.
3:09
And when we do try to get out, it's
3:10
uncomfortable. So, we have to do it for
3:12
like short periods of time. And that's
3:13
not the case for everybody. But for me
3:16
and with little ones and as a
3:18
stay-at-home mom and things like that,
3:19
we got to spend lots of money to go find
3:21
something to do or we would probably
3:23
just be like outdoors like actually in
3:26
the cold in the thick of it. And that's
3:28
for some people, but it's not for me. I
3:30
talked about this a lot. I don't feel
3:32
the need to need to go into that all
3:34
over again. So, I didn't want that. I
3:38
wanted more experiences. I wanted to
3:40
teach my children that it's okay to get
3:42
outside of your comfort zone. It's okay
3:45
to get out and be flexible, to get out
3:47
and explore. Do not pigeon hole yourself
3:49
to just your birth state. Because just
3:52
because this is a state that we were
3:53
born, that makes it our home state. But
3:55
what if you enjoy a different state, a
4:00
different area, a different country, a
4:01
different lifestyle, right? So you don't
4:03
have to pigeon hole yourself to
4:06
what your current thing is, what your
4:09
current situation is. There is so much
4:11
life outside of where we was born.
4:14
There's so much life outside of our
4:17
home. Like there is just there's too
4:20
much outdoors to explore. And so this is
4:23
where I wanted to start our adventure
4:25
here in the sunny state of Florida
4:27
because as a mom, our family does love
4:30
vacationing at Disney World because I
4:32
feel like there is just something to do
4:33
for the entire family. Whenever we would
4:36
travel to Disney World, everyone would
4:37
have a good time. All of us. Like there
4:39
was never a time that we went to Disney
4:40
World and none of us had a good time. We
4:42
thoroughly enjoyed the parks, but we
4:44
also thoroughly enjoy the location.
4:47
Therefore, it just made to me it made
4:50
sense unless it didn't make sense. One
4:52
thing that would make it not make sense
4:54
is finances. So, that is why I want to
4:56
talk about budgeting majority in this
4:59
video. So, there are two three things.
5:02
Three, one is a scripture. I don't know.
5:04
Okay, let's start with the scripture.
5:06
You can do all things through Christ who
5:08
strengthens you. This next one is Dave
5:10
Ramsey.
5:12
You have to live like no one else in
5:14
order to live like no one else. And then
5:17
the third one is straight from my
5:18
husband. It's not about if you're going
5:21
to do it, it's about how you're going to
5:23
do it. Those are the three things that
5:25
stay at the forefront of my mind and
5:27
maybe even my husband's too when we were
5:29
planning this out financially. The first
5:31
one, just having that God faith that you
5:34
can do all things through Christ who
5:36
strengthens you. It just gives you the
5:38
supernatural
5:40
power that you need to know that I can
5:43
do this. I can do this. And if it is in
5:45
God's will, yes, we prayed about it
5:48
heavily. I pray about everything. Prayed
5:50
about it and said, "Lord, if it is in
5:52
your will,
5:54
give us the resources, the knowledge,
5:57
the wisdom, whatever it is we need to
5:59
get here and show us how to do it."
6:02
Basically, the Dave Ramsey quote, live
6:04
like no one else so that you can live
6:05
like no one else, is basically telling
6:07
you like, hey, if you have to cut back
6:08
on spending for a while. Yeah. And
6:12
that's different. Not everyone does
6:13
that. Nowadays, we live in a world where
6:15
everyone is just spending a ton of
6:18
money, a ton of it, throwing it out the
6:20
window. Okay? But if you have to cut
6:22
down on some things, cut down on some
6:23
streaming services, you don't have to go
6:25
get your nails done all the time, your
6:27
hair done all the time, you know, if you
6:28
cut back on those things for a little
6:31
while, eventually you get to the point
6:33
where you are living like no one else.
6:35
So for us, this was a dream. They don't
6:36
know anybody else personally,
6:39
friends, family that have the
6:42
opportunity to do this. So I don't take
6:46
it for granted. I'm very much aware of
6:49
how much of a blessing this is for us.
6:52
Okay? And that is why I want other
6:54
people to believe too that it's
6:56
possible. Especially like I said, people
6:58
who we are close with and know it's
7:01
possible. Okay? We don't finance any
7:04
cars. We don't use any credit cards. We
7:08
don't finance our cell phones. We have a
7:10
very, very basic and inexpensive phone
7:13
plan that doesn't include us having to
7:14
pay off any phone. Um, we don't finance
7:18
vacations. We save for our vacations so
7:21
that we can afford to do it opposed to
7:23
doing something we can't afford and then
7:25
being in debt to pay it off. I do my
7:27
nails at home. I do my hair at home. We
7:30
don't buy everything name brand. We
7:32
don't have a ton of material things. I'm
7:35
a stay-at-home mom, so we don't have to
7:37
pay for daycare. Um, I chose to stay at
7:41
home while my husband works to cut down
7:44
on the cost of travel expensive like
7:46
transportation and gas and um, car
7:49
maintenance and so that I can be home
7:52
and cook meals so we're not spending
7:54
money out of the house to buy a lot of
7:56
meals. So, most of our meals are cooked.
7:58
We don't spend a lot of money on takeout
8:00
and fast food. And we also have to cut
8:03
back on spending. We did no spend months
8:06
where we bought nothing, nothing at all.
8:08
Used what we had, even if it felt like
8:10
we needed it, we would find a way. We
8:13
also did like cut back on our like
8:15
streaming services. So like Netflix,
8:17
Disney Plus, Hulu, uh what's the other
8:20
ones? It's just a ton of them, things
8:23
like that. Cut back on those. Um, I even
8:27
sold some things on Facebook Marketplace
8:29
that we were no longer using to help me
8:32
so that I was being resourceful. So,
8:34
like instead of spending income that we
8:36
had coming in, I was able to take
8:40
something that I already bought and
8:42
either sell it to somebody else and use
8:44
that money to repurpose it. For
8:46
instance, if I wanted to buy a baby girl
8:48
a new high chair, I sold her little
8:51
infant sit me up thing that you use for
8:53
the babies up until 6 months. you can
8:55
sit them on a floor. It's a floor seat.
8:56
So that and then bought the high chair
8:59
with the money I made from that. So I
9:01
wasn't buying anything new necessarily.
9:04
I was, but I was more so like exchanging
9:07
or repurposing I guess maybe if that's
9:09
how you think about it. I don't know.
9:11
And so basically there are a lot of
9:13
things that you have to do in order to
9:14
you know save and things like that. The
9:16
thing is that my husband wanted to make
9:18
sure that we had enough money into our
9:20
savings. So this wasn't a thing that we
9:22
jumped up and did. It took us years and
9:24
it was hard because I wanted to so bad.
9:27
But I trusted him. Like I said, it was
9:29
hard cuz I knew I wanted it. That's just
9:31
how I am. I want something, I go for it,
9:33
and I don't stop. Um, but yeah, it took
9:37
years. So my husband spent about a year
9:41
and a half just building up our savings
9:44
funds like just on extreme mode just
9:48
making sure that our actual savings like
9:50
for our family was just it was good.
9:53
Then he spent another year just saving
9:57
up for us to afford our place here so
10:01
that everything would be taken care of
10:03
and we would not be living check by
10:05
check by check. So yeah, we could have
10:08
just jumped up and did it immediately
10:10
and maybe had a smaller savings fund and
10:12
been living check by check, but by doing
10:15
it this way, we know that we're okay. He
10:19
plans for it in advance so that going
10:21
forward it doesn't feel like we're
10:22
struggling, you know, because like I
10:24
said, we make sure that we had a set
10:26
budget and everything. And so when it
10:28
comes to budgeting, all we did, you
10:30
guys, so how here's how we found it. We
10:31
went on
10:33
Zillow, looked in the area that we've
10:35
been in many times. When we would come
10:37
down for a vacation, we would just look
10:39
at different places like we would tour
10:41
places that we liked, drive through the
10:43
areas, the neighborhoods. We would stay
10:45
in the surrounding neighborhoods like in
10:47
the hotels and things like that to get a
10:49
feel for the area and what we would look
10:51
what we would be looking for and what we
10:53
liked. And so then we went on to Zillow
10:55
app and we looked at a few different
10:58
looked at our prices that we had in mind
11:00
like our budget and then saw what was
11:02
within our budget. Once we saw the ones
11:04
that were in our budget, those are the
11:06
ones that when we came for vacation
11:08
again, we toured those. Then we picked
11:10
the two that we loved the most, went
11:13
home, thought it over, and once we found
11:15
the one that we really, really wanted,
11:17
we did everything online, the full
11:18
application process online. So once we
11:21
got in Florida, all we needed to do was
11:22
go pick up our key um and do our first
11:27
payment for the first month. That was
11:29
it, you guys. That was it. It was so so
11:31
so super straightforward. So easy. If
11:34
you want to hear more about like the
11:36
moving process and the application
11:38
process and all of that, you can
11:40
definitely let us know in the comments.
11:42
I'll share more of that. Right now, my
11:43
husband is out taking the kids for a
11:45
walk. They needed it. We had a long ride
11:47
yesterday. They're just exploring the
11:49
area a bit. Yeah, let let us know down
11:51
below in the comments. We can talk a bit
11:52
more about that as well. But in terms of
11:56
like um we still have our home up north
12:00
with a homesitter. Homesitters
12:03
um might cost might not depending on who
12:06
you go with. If you you know, I don't
12:07
know, maybe you'll find a close friend
12:09
or family member who needs needs it and
12:12
they'll do you a favor. or if that's not
12:14
the case for you and you need to find a
12:16
home sitter who you know very well but
12:19
maybe it's inconveniencing for them to
12:21
keep up with your home then you would
12:22
pay them I guess you know so those are
12:24
the options as far as home sitters go um
12:27
we could talk a bit more about that so
12:29
that's just something that's you would
12:31
want to consider in your budget when
12:32
budgeting look at utilities look at gas
12:36
and transportation furniture we had to
12:39
for instance ship my car second vehicle
12:43
from our home state to here. That's
12:46
something that had to go into the
12:47
budgeting. Um, if you're going to get
12:50
annual passes for all the parks, you
12:52
want to put that into your budgeting and
12:53
look at the total amount of what
12:56
everything is going to cost you and
12:58
decide how am I going to do this?
13:01
Because the other quote that I use is
13:02
not about if, it's about how. How can
13:05
you make this happen? Does it mean you
13:06
are going to have to work a little bit
13:09
more extra harder? put a little bit more
13:11
away, stop buying here and there. I
13:14
truly believe that many people can
13:16
afford more than what they actually
13:18
think they can. When I look at like I
13:20
have this friend, she goes to Disney
13:22
World like multiple times a year. We did
13:26
too, right? That is how it kind of made
13:28
sense for us. The amount of money that
13:30
we were spending just to take a trip to
13:33
Disney World two or three times a year
13:36
was the same nearly the same amount of
13:39
money. I don't want to say the same
13:40
nearly the same amount of money it will
13:43
cost us to have a second place up here
13:46
that is financially because remember
13:48
earlier I said the only way that it
13:50
might not make sense is financially but
13:52
for us that is how it ended up making
13:54
sense that and having our savings our
13:56
emergency is what made it made sense the
13:58
fact that we were pretty much always
14:01
spending that money but I also mentioned
14:03
earlier that we never vacationed in debt
14:07
we didn't spend money we didn't have we
14:10
saved for vacations. Okay. And to make
14:14
this again make sense financially, we
14:16
needed to save like it was a vacation
14:18
and have the money and the funds, the
14:20
finances prepared and ready before we
14:23
did it. Otherwise, we would be doing
14:25
this as we go. And so that's how it kind
14:28
of almost feels like an extended
14:30
vacation, an extended Disney World
14:32
vacation versus, you know, just everyday
14:35
like, you know, living and things like
14:36
that. Yeah. is get your budget list
14:38
ready and figure out how you going to
14:40
get there. What do you need to do? How
14:41
much do you need every single month and
14:43
how long will it take you to get there?
14:46
And then give yourself a timeline. Like
14:48
I said, our timeline took us a couple of
14:50
years to get here. So, if you're going
14:53
based on how do I do this versus if I do
14:56
this, it's going to be how. Not a if,
14:59
but it's also going to be a win because
15:01
you're going to have to create your own
15:03
timeline. You got to see this is what
15:05
everything is going to cost me. This is
15:07
how much money I would need to save
15:10
every single month to get here. You
15:14
know, this is how long. So, for
15:15
instance, say you said I need to have
15:16
$12,000, right? It's just an example.
15:19
Say you need $12,000 in the next year
15:21
and you said, "Let's divide 12 by 12
15:24
months." Okay, that means I need to be
15:25
able to save $1,000 per month if I want
15:28
to make this happen in a year. Okay, how
15:31
do I save $1,000 per month? You're going
15:34
to look at how much your income is and
15:35
you're going to say, "How much do I have
15:37
extra to put aside? How much do I need
15:39
to cut back?" You know, that's what
15:40
you're going to need to do. And if that
15:42
doesn't work for you and you need two
15:43
years, then you say, "Okay, that's not
15:46
going to work. I need to be able to save
15:47
up $500 every single month. That is the
15:50
best that I can do if I cut back on
15:53
these expenses and add another extra
15:56
$200 of income." You know, it's the way
15:58
that you look at it and everything. You
16:00
break it down and you get your budget
16:02
and you figure it out. But it's all
16:04
about discipline, not buying every
16:08
little thing. You'll be surprised how
16:10
many $20 Starbucks orders and $30
16:13
McDonald's orders and $40 pizza nights,
16:17
how quickly that add up. You know, it
16:19
adds up quickly. That's already like
16:21
nearly a hundred extra dollars that you
16:23
could have saved in a week if you eat
16:25
out that often. I hope you don't, but
16:29
it's just an example because I know a
16:30
lot of people that is their case, you
16:32
know. I know it is. Um, yeah. I mean,
16:35
buy, like I said, buying a car versus
16:38
financing a car could save you hundreds
16:41
and hundreds of dollars per month. Um,
16:46
buy out a phone, use an old cell phone.
16:48
You don't need the newest iPhone. You
16:49
can just buy a phone so that you're not
16:51
paying on that every single month. I
16:54
know people with phone bills. A lot of
16:56
people who have phone bills has over
16:57
$100 per month. And I'm like, why does
16:59
it cost so much to have a cell phone?
17:01
It's because they're also paying for the
17:03
phone that they finance in addition to
17:06
their bill, you know? So, there's
17:08
there's that as well. And our phone
17:11
plan, I think for three lines, I think
17:14
is near $70, maybe near that for all
17:17
three of us to have our phones with
17:20
data, hotspot, three phone lines, cuz my
17:22
husband has his work phone. Like it it
17:24
works. We have no problems at all. It's
17:27
just no reason. And yeah, sure, it might
17:29
not be like what everyone is doing.
17:31
They're like, "Oh, you got that cheap
17:32
phone plan?" I was like, "Yeah, but we
17:33
also get to have a second home in
17:35
Florida, so you live like nobody else
17:37
and that you can live like nobody else."
17:39
You know, I remember when we were
17:40
coming, we would always stay inside of
17:42
off-p property hotels. So, we stayed off
17:45
property, not on Disney property. Yes, I
17:48
know. It looked beautiful. And at the
17:50
time, we probably had, I guess you could
17:52
say, the money to stay at a Disney World
17:56
Resort hotel, but that's money that
17:58
would have not gone into our savings
18:00
account. Money that would not have gone
18:02
into saving for, you know, our second
18:04
home here in Florida. It's all that
18:07
stuff adds up. And so I mean my friends
18:09
would be like, "You have to. I cannot
18:11
believe in all of the times that you
18:13
have gone to Disney World. You have not
18:14
stayed on Disney property like at one of
18:17
their resorts." You guys, we haven't.
18:19
And now that we're here, my hope is that
18:21
maybe we can start touring them so that
18:22
I can share them with you guys. We can
18:23
do a weekend here, a weekend there to be
18:26
like a fun little getaway, a weekend
18:28
getaway. You know, we're not having to
18:30
catch a flight out there or anything.
18:31
We're in the area and we can just go
18:33
spend a little bit of time in the Disney
18:34
resorts. That is something we can now
18:37
do. You get it? Like we live like nobody
18:39
else so that later we can live like
18:41
nobody else. You know, I'm planning to
18:43
definitely be renting some DVT points
18:46
or, you know, renting out the time
18:48
shares and things like that. It's a lot
18:50
cheaper than booking, you know, doing
18:52
all of that. So, yeah, you look at it in
18:54
terms of in the long term or in the long
18:58
run to make it possible and feasible for
19:01
you. Obviously, I'm not a vacation
19:03
planner, but yeah, it's the coming and
19:06
staying at resort hotels and renting a
19:09
car, you know, versus coming and staying
19:11
here and spending a night at a Disney
19:13
resort that would cost arm and leg, you
19:16
know, and so we we were saving. We were
19:18
being smart about it. We also live very
19:21
minimal. I have a second channel which I
19:23
will link down below for you guys. It's
19:25
my motherhood and homemaking channel.
19:27
That's literally the name of it of it.
19:29
heavens.mmotherhood andhomemaking. On
19:32
there, I talk a lot about our minimal
19:34
lifestyle where we only have a handful
19:37
of clothing pieces, a handful of like
19:39
furniture items and things we just don't
19:41
buy. Uh money we just don't waste um to
19:46
make just this possible for one, but
19:49
also just because it's just easier time
19:52
management, easier to manage your
19:53
finances, your time, and everything.
19:55
Well, you're not just buying a ton of
19:57
just a ton of things. all the time and
20:01
normally you can get better quality
20:03
things when you have less of it than
20:06
buying like it's just I don't know it's
20:07
just it goes back to what I was saying
20:09
when you are spending buying every
20:12
little thing that you see your money
20:14
will go so fast versus if you just save
20:16
up your money and be more you know
20:18
mindful of it you can get better quality
20:21
things you know with the money that you
20:24
have if you say I'm not going to buy all
20:26
10 of these items right now instead I'm
20:28
just going to save and buy this one
20:29
really nice item for now. Maybe later
20:31
I'll get another piece. It's just I
20:33
don't know. Those who get it, those who
20:35
get it. Minimalism is definitely a
20:37
thing. Um we're not extreme minimalist,
20:40
but yeah, it's a thing. And that's
20:41
another way that we are able to save
20:43
money. Just being more minimal in life,
20:46
our lifestyle, our experiences, the
20:48
things that we do. Even like going I
20:50
don't hang out a lot, like go out. If
20:52
ever I have like outings or hangouts
20:55
with friends, I really try to aim for it
20:57
to be home. We do a lot of playdates at
20:59
home. Blow. We have like a bounce house,
21:01
a playground at our home up north where
21:03
we would just let the kids come over and
21:05
run around while the parents, we just
21:07
barbecue on the patio. Things that we
21:09
can do for free. Hanging out at home. I
21:13
would love you to come over for dinner.
21:14
Let's have dinner and wine. Anything
21:17
that doesn't require me to get in my
21:19
car, waste, drive my gas to go
21:21
somewhere, and then spend money on an
21:24
extravagant dinner and a glass of wine
21:26
with you guys when I can just cook for
21:27
you at home. I love to be hospitable in
21:29
that way because it saves everybody
21:31
money. Obviously, we do make exceptions.
21:34
We go out every once in a while. We
21:36
would still have some fun, but it's not
21:37
a regular thing. I'm not It's not a
21:40
regular thing. We're past those party
21:42
days, you guys. I'm 30. Am I 30? I'm 31
21:44
years old. Don't even know how to 31
21:46
years old. There were days where we were
21:49
hanging out on the in the night life
21:52
scene. It's not the case anymore. And
21:53
now that we are here, you guys, who
21:56
knows? Possibilities are endless. Just
21:58
kidding. We're still going to be very
21:59
mindful of what we are doing here and
22:00
just enjoy our time here and enjoy our
22:02
spending. I mean, enjoy our experiences
22:06
and not enjoy our spending, but be
22:08
mindful of our spending. Um, but you
22:11
know what? Comment down below. I would
22:13
very much love to help you. I promise
22:15
