So, it is Thanksgiving week and I just
0:02
finished up my grocery shopping. I'm
0:04
going to do a little bit of a
0:05
Thanksgiving dinner for the family, just
0:07
us here. So, I'm going to do a little
0:09
Thanksgiving grocery haul for you guys
0:10
and show you guys what we got, some of
0:11
the things we're going to be cooking
0:12
this week for Thanksgiving, so that if
0:15
you have not done your grocery shopping
0:17
already, you can make sure you don't
0:19
forget these here items. It has been a
0:21
little while since I've done a grocery
0:22
haul, and I figured this one is going to
0:24
be worth it. So, if you're ready for all
0:26
of the yummy Thanksgiving food items, go
0:29
ahead and give this video a thumbs up.
0:30
And if you're new here, I would love for
0:31
you to subscribe. I want to join the
0:33
family. I'm always sharing motherhood
0:35
motivation and homemaking inspiration
0:37
with you guys. But let's go ahead and
0:39
get into today's grocery haul. All
0:40
right, so my kiddos are in the
0:41
background watching the Disney sing
0:43
along songs, so hopefully that's not too
0:45
loud for the back. But here's what we
0:48
have for the Thanksgiving grocery haul.
0:50
We have this boneless turkey breast
0:52
roast. These are really, really good. It
0:54
even comes with like a little like gravy
0:56
packet on the inside. So, all you have
0:58
to do is add a little bit of salt and
0:59
pepper. And it's normally really really
1:01
good if you just have like a small like
1:03
it's just us, a family of four, and you
1:05
want a little bit of turkey but don't
1:06
want to bake a huge turkey, you could do
1:08
this. But I also like to put this inside
1:10
of my dressing sometimes. So, I always
1:12
grab one of these. This one is frozen,
1:14
so I'm going to put that in the fridge
1:16
to thaw. And then, of course, we always
1:18
just go with a regular ham. Nothing too
1:20
special. I always go with a bone in
1:23
spiral cut. This is the brown sugar
1:25
double glazed ham. It's a really huge
1:27
size, so we'll have leftovers for a
1:29
while and then afterwards, you can even
1:30
use it to make like a soup or put it
1:32
inside of some beans or something. So,
1:35
we got that one. And then for the
1:37
greens, we have neckbones as well as ham
1:42
hocks because that is just how we like
1:45
to flavor our greens. I know it's not
1:47
the best. Um, you could also go with
1:49
turkey legs for the greens, but decided
1:52
to just take it on back and just do the
1:54
neck bones and the ham hocks this time
1:56
around. Have a bag of chicken breast as
1:59
well. And I'll do the shredded chicken
2:01
inside of the dressing. Maybe. I really
2:03
do not know. Um, I also just got
2:08
the red, yellow, and orange peppers. And
2:12
I have two green ones in the back as
2:13
well. And then these broccoli fuettes
2:17
are actually four. This week I'm meal
2:20
prepping a few things to have to eat
2:22
throughout the week. So one thing my
2:24
husband has been loving is salmon and
2:25
rice. So I'm going to just put a bed of
2:28
broccoli in the oven and let those roast
2:30
and store them away in the fridge where
2:32
we'll have a couple servings of broccoli
2:34
to put on the side of our salmon and
2:35
rice or for dinner. An easy go-to so I'm
2:38
not having to prep every single day
2:41
veggies and things like that. So I got
2:43
that. You excited or something for
2:45
Thanksgiving? My husband is just
2:47
standing here like a creep smiling at
2:49
all the Thanksgiving.
2:50
You did not know I was standing.
2:52
I didn't know you were right here.
2:55
Talking about the good stuff. I had to
2:56
come see what it was.
2:58
All the good stuff. Of course, we're
2:59
going to do mac and cheese. I ordered
3:02
the Muller's brand of elbow noodles, but
3:05
they ran out of stock. That is what
3:07
happened when you grocery shop 3 days
3:09
before Thanksgiving, but they sent me
3:11
the Barilla brand. it'll be just fine.
3:14
And then for the cheese, we have the
3:16
smokehouse blend of cheese. And we also
3:20
have Kobe Jack, which is one of my
3:22
favorites. And then of course just mild
3:24
cheddar. And then I went with the triple
3:26
cheddar because the triple cheddars have
3:28
the Vermont white cheddar, sharp
3:30
cheddar, and mild cheddar. Have some
3:32
half and half for the mac and cheese.
3:34
Also some evaporated milk. Don't know
3:36
which way I want to go about it this
3:38
time. and then unsalted butter for
3:41
pretty much everything. We're going to
3:42
be using this for the sweet potatoes or
3:45
the yams and for the mac and cheese,
3:47
too. I have two bags of already um like
3:52
chopped or shredded and washed greens.
3:55
No preservatives. This one is by um WP
3:59
Raw Farms. I have not heard of this
4:01
brand, at least not back in Michigan,
4:03
but I decided to go this route. They're
4:05
probably going to be a bit smaller than,
4:08
you know, if you were to clean them and
4:10
like, you know, tear them yourself or
4:13
cut them yourself. But I decided to go
4:15
this route this time because I'm a
4:16
little bit last minute. I'm also a
4:18
little bit like lower on space here and
4:20
it's just the four of us. So, trying to
4:23
do a quick Thanksgiving dinner this
4:25
year. I also got some garlic. We're
4:27
going to mince the garlic up as well as
4:29
some onion with some chicken broth. And
4:32
that is going to be the base for the
4:34
greens with the ham hocks and neck bone.
4:37
And then of course we have yams back
4:39
here. 12 of the yams in this bag. Green
4:43
peppers. Now for my dressing, you could
4:45
just go cornmeal and just use the back
4:47
of the bag and make you some cornbread
4:49
or you could just make it from scratch.
4:51
However you want to do it. I've bought
4:52
four packages of the Martha White
4:55
cornbread mix. You just add water or
4:58
milk. Water. For me, you just add the
5:01
water or the milk and yeah, this is fine
5:04
as long as it's like no sugar added and
5:06
it's not like the Jiffy mix is typically
5:08
like sweet and things like that. But if
5:09
you can get you a good Martha White or
5:11
country style southern cornbread mix, I
5:14
don't see the difference between that
5:15
and the one on the back of the cornmeal
5:17
bag, I don't know. That's just how we're
5:19
going this year. No homemade cornbread,
5:22
not this year. Um, I literally just my
5:25
pantry is not fully stocked. We've only
5:27
been here for a month and a half and
5:30
we're still working on filling up the
5:32
pantry and everything. So, this is how
5:34
we're doing it this year. And then I've
5:35
got some Campbell cream of chicken soup
5:38
and cream of celery for the dressing. I
5:40
wanted cream of chicken and cream of
5:42
onion, but couldn't find the onion, so I
5:44
went with the celery. And I'm also
5:46
considering just going cream of chicken
5:47
only, but I got those. Little bit of
5:49
turkey gravy for once the dressing is
5:52
done to serve on the side. And some
5:54
cranberry sauce. Have a little bit of
5:55
sage. This was not already in my pantry
5:57
here. So, I got a little bit of sage for
6:00
the dressing. And then I got a little
6:01
bit of nutmeg. I have cinnamon, but I
6:03
don't have nutmeg for the yam. A bit
6:05
more vanilla for the yams. McCormick
6:08
brand. These are just the basic Great
6:12
Value Walmart brand chicken broth,
6:14
family size. This is just fine. Um, like
6:17
for the greens. So, I got two of those.
6:19
And then for the dressing, I went with
6:22
the Kettle and Fire bone broth. I
6:23
normally only need like two cups, so I
6:25
went with that one there. Me and the
6:27
kids prefer the generic brand of fruit
6:29
and grain bars over the neutrorain bars.
6:31
They're just a little bit softer. Um, so
6:34
got some of these to restock to snack
6:37
on. And then
6:40
cranberry apple juice for myself and
6:43
then got the kids more high sea um and
6:47
more like just little juice boxes. We
6:49
always like grab little things like this
6:50
just when we're out on the go, which we
6:52
are often lately. And then I also needed
6:54
to just restock sugar and light brown
6:59
sugar for the yams. But that is it. We
7:01
are just planning to have a little bit
7:03
of turkey, some ham, some greens,
7:06
dressing, mac and cheese, yams, and I'm
7:10
going to make some bread, like some
7:12
dinner rolls, some yeast rolls, and
7:13
that'll be our Thanksgiving spread this
7:15
week. All right, you guys. So, that
7:16
leaves on today's grocery haul. I hope
7:18
that you guys enjoyed this little
7:19
holiday Thanksgiving grocery haul.
7:22
Hopefully, it gave you guys some
7:23
inspiration, maybe picked you up and put
7:24
you into the Thanksgiving mood if maybe
7:27
you've been struggling to get into the
7:29
spirit, maybe. I don't know. But I hope
7:31
that you guys have a wonderful
7:33
Thanksgiving. Thank you so much for
7:34
watching and I will see you guys in the
7:35
next one. Happy homeing.
